2021 Western Field Day

The Nebraska Arborists Association is excited to announce Western Field Day on September 29th - 30th at Ash Hollow in Lewellen, NE. 

Ash Hollow near Lewellen will be the host site for the Western Field Day event. The event includes learning about the history of the Ash Trees in the area, hiking tours, and other educational opportunities. You will also be able to connect with other professionals while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Ash Hollow. 

Wednesday, September 29th 

8:30                    Check-in and Registration at Tiger Den in Lewellen

9:00  am            Geology-Paleontology-Archeology of Ash Hallow and It's relevance over place & time

10:00 am           Ash Tree History Dr. Elliot West presents Post Ice Age – “A Long Time Ago”

11:00 am           Species Hybridization - East Meets West - Animal & Tree Hybridization  
                           Speaker: Amanda Fillipe

12:00 pm           Lunch at Tiger Den (504 W Hwy 26), Lewellen

1:30 pm             Ash Hollow Forest and History Hike (Easy Hike)
                           EAB, Ash Forrest Health
                           Natural resources and human occupancy; a historical perspective
                           Explore the museum, forest, cave, and Ash Creek bed and hiking trails

5:00 pm             BBQ Supper at Ash Hollow Picnic Area

                          Discussion Session
                          Propagation of the Witness Tree: Ensuring siblings continue to bear witness.
                          Blessing Ceremony: The descendants of Blue Water
